Agroturismo in Menorca: ten country houses between Ciutadella, Alaior and the area around Mahón
Ten agroturismos in Menorca, all in old country houses: four in the countryside of Mahón, from Sant Climent to the road to Addaia, three in the countryside of Alaior, two just outside Ciutadella and one on the south coast, at Sant Tomàs. We searched for them on Booking among the island’s farm stays and country houses, left out the ones you already find in our other selections, and kept the ten agroturismos in Menorca most appreciated by the people who have stayed there. For each one you will find where it is, what the pool is like, how meals work and how far it is from the airport.
In the Balearic Islands, staying at an agroturismo in Menorca means staying in a rural house or on a working farm estate, which may or may not have a restaurant. In this selection Llucasaldent Gran, Malbuger Nou, Santa Mariana and Rafal Rubí have one; the others serve breakfast, and Matxani Gran and Llucmaçanes Gran also have a shared kitchen. The 10 best agroturismos in Menorca
1. Finca Atalis: 75 hectares of fields and pasture facing the sea at Sant Tomàs
Finca Atalis stands at the end of the Sant Tomàs development, on the south coast, in the municipality of Es Migjorn Gran: an estate of 75 hectares, partly sown with cereals and partly used as pasture, with the sea in front. The outdoor pool is seasonal, and every room opens onto a garden with a sea view.
The rooms have air conditioning and heating, a safe, a desk, a TV and a private bathroom; the superior rooms, which are larger, also have a terrace and a sitting room with a sofa. There is a bar, and the surroundings are good for walking, cycling and horse riding. Free parking and WiFi; Mahón airport is a 40-minute drive away. The finca is for adults only.

2. Agroturismo Llucasaldent Gran: a sauna and bikes on the road between Alaior and Son Bou
Agroturismo Llucasaldent Gran Menorca is at kilometre 2.4 of the road that runs down from Alaior towards Son Bou, in the south-centre of the island, with Monte Toro 14 km away and the port of Mahón 16. It has a restaurant, a garden and an outdoor pool, and offers free bikes; indoors there is also a billiard table.
Every room has a terrace, with air conditioning, TV, minibar, kettle and a bathroom with a shower. Breakfast is a buffet, and for relaxing there is a sauna. The airport is 15 km away, with a paid shuttle; check-in is only possible from the age of 18.

3. Agroturismo Malbuger Nou: a vegan breakfast too, 3 km from the port of Mahón
Agroturismo Malbuger Nou Menorca is on the Camino de Santa María, in the countryside of Mahón, 3.4 km from the port and 11 from Es Grau beach. It has a restaurant, a bar, a terrace, a garden and an outdoor pool open all year round.
The rooms have a TV and a private bathroom with a shower. At breakfast you choose between continental, vegetarian or vegan. Bikes and cars can be hired, and there is a tour desk for planning days out. The airport is 7 km away, with a paid shuttle. The name says adults only, but teenagers from the age of 14 are welcome.

4. Agroturismo Son Juaneda: an 18th-century house 10 minutes from Cala Morell
Agroturismo Son Juaneda is an 18th-century country house on the Camí de Cala Morell, surrounded by greenery, 3 km from Ciutadella. Cala Morell beach is a 10-minute drive away, Fornells 30 km. Around the pool there are the furnished sun terrace and the barbecue.
There are 12 rooms, with air conditioning, TV, fridge and a private bathroom, and almost all have a patio or a terrace; there are family rooms too, and children of all ages are welcome. The house rents out cars and bikes and organises horse rides and excursions. Free WiFi and parking; the airport is 40 minutes away.

5. Agroturismo Ses Talaies: one kilometre from Ciutadella and three from the Naveta des Tudons
Agroturismo Ses Talaies is 1 km from Ciutadella, at kilometre 0.9 of the RC-1, and a 10-minute drive from La Vall beach. Nearby are the cathedral, 2.7 km away, the Ciutadella lighthouse and the Naveta des Tudons, 3.2 km away, one of the monuments of Talaiotic Menorca. The outdoor pool is seasonal, with a sun terrace.
The rooms look onto the pool or the garden, with cable TV, a hairdryer and toiletries. The area is good for trekking, cycling and horse riding. Free private parking and WiFi; the airport is on the other side of the island, 35 km away. Teenagers from the age of 14 are welcome.

6. Mongofre Agroturismo: a private beach area on the road to Addaia
Mongofre Agroturismo is on the Finca Mongofre Nou, on the Camí d’Addaia, in the north-east of the island: Cala Caldes is 1.2 km away, the port of Mahón 16. It has no pool, but it does have a private beach area, a garden and a terrace, and the surroundings are good for hiking.
Breakfast is a buffet, continental or vegetarian too. Free private parking and WiFi; the airport is 18 km away. Children are not allowed.

7. Agroturismo Santa Mariana: a restaurant and family rooms on the Camí de Loreto, near Alaior
Agroturismo Santa Mariana is on the Camí de Loreto, in the countryside of Alaior, 9 km from the airport and 10 from the port of Mahón. It has a restaurant, a bar, a garden, a terrace and an outdoor pool; Monte Toro and Es Grau beach are both 15 km away.
The rooms have air conditioning, TV, minibar and a bathroom with a shower, and there is room service. There are family rooms and rooms adapted for guests with disabilities. Free WiFi and private parking; the surroundings are good for walking.

8. Agroturismo Rafal Rubí: two restaurants between Alaior and the port of Mahón
Agroturismo Rafal Rubí is on the Camí de Rafal Rubí, in the countryside of Alaior, 7 km from the airport and 7.9 from the port of Mahón; Es Grau beach is 13 km away. It has two restaurants, a bar, a lounge, a garden and an outdoor pool open all year round.
The rooms look onto the garden, with a private bathroom with a shower, a hairdryer, toiletries and slippers. Breakfast is a buffet, continental or vegetarian too, and for getting around there is bike and car hire. Guests under 18 are not accepted.

Agroturismo Matxani Gran is at kilometre 1.5 of the Binidalí road, in Sant Climent, in the east of the island: 2 km from the airport and 5 from the centre of Mahón and the sea. The estate covers 10 hectares, with a flock of sheep and two donkeys; there is a pool with a sun terrace and loungers, and the bus stop is a few metres away.
The rooms have a ceiling fan, air conditioning, heating, satellite TV and a private bathroom; there are family rooms. Breakfast is continental, and once a week there are home-cooked meals; the rest of the time guests have the kitchen, the bar and the barbecue. Free parking and WiFi.

10. Llucmaçanes Gran Agroturismo: on a village square, 2 km from the basilica of Es Fornàs de Torelló
Llucmaçanes Gran Agroturismo is on Plaza San Cayetano, in the centre of the small village of Llucmaçanes, south of Mahón, with views of the countryside and the church. The outdoor pool and the barbecue are in the gardens. About 2 km away you can visit the basilica of Es Fornàs de Torelló and the ancient village of Torellonet Vell; the nearest beaches are Punta Prima, in the municipality of Sant Lluís, and Binidalí.
The rooms have a balcony, a ceiling fan and a private bathroom, and there are family rooms. Guests have a dining room with a fireplace and TV and a fully equipped shared kitchen. The tour desk has information about the island, and bikes and cars can be hired to explore it. Free parking and WiFi.

Which agroturismo to choose in Menorca: who you are travelling with and where you want to spend your days
With children the choices are Son Juaneda, Santa Mariana, Matxani Gran and Llucmaçanes Gran, which also have family rooms; Malbuger Nou and Ses Talaies accept teenagers from the age of 14, while Finca Atalis, Llucasaldent Gran, Mongofre and Rafal Rubí are adults only. If your flight lands late or the trip is short, Matxani Gran, Rafal Rubí and Malbuger Nou are 7 km or less from the airport; if you want Ciutadella and the coves of the north-west, stay at Son Juaneda or Ses Talaies.
