Villas in Menorca with a private pool: ten addresses from Binibeca to the bay of Fornells
A villa in Menorca is chosen first of all for a pool of your own and a kitchen, but the island offers two very different kinds. There are the single villas on the hill, like those above Son Bou and Es Mercadal, with four bedrooms, a barbecue and the sea on the horizon, and there are the villa complexes inside the resorts built around the coves, at Binibeca Vell, Cala Blanca, Cala en Blanes, Cala Galdana and Playas de Fornells: terraced houses with a fenced garden, one pool each and a supermarket five minutes away on foot.

This selection has both: two five-star villas and eight complexes with a private pool in every house, from the south-east coast to the bay of Fornells. For each one we tell you how many bedrooms there are, how far the beach is and whether you really need a car. If you would rather have the services of a hotel, start from our guide on how to choose where to stay in Menorca; if you want a kitchen but something smaller, see the best apartments in Menorca.

How to choose the right villa in Menorca
The first question to ask is how much you want to depend on a car: in the complexes of Cala Blanca, Cala Galdana, Binibeca and Playas de Fornells the beach and the supermarket are within walking distance, while the villas on the hills of Torre Solí Nou and Es Mercadal give you the views and the silence, but for shopping and for the sea you need to drive. Nearly all of them hire bikes or help you arrange a car.

The second is the number of bedrooms: the single villas have four and are best booked as a group or by two families; those in the complexes have three, with the beds already split between doubles and singles. Check what is included too, because in some cases sheets and towels are charged separately.
